As many of you know, I have a new hobby! I like to get on Craigslist and look at the Personals for a good laugh. The goal is basically to find THE most ridiculous ad. Anyway, I found one that absolutely cracked me up. I wouldn't categorize this as "ridiculous" because the guy is obviously using sarcasm. But I still found it hilarious nonetheless! Here it is:

It seems that 90% of the ads say, "love to laugh, love hanging out with family and friends, love having fun". Well no shit.

It's time for something new and exciting. And that's me. First of all, I'm pretty hot if I say so myself. Tall, fit, brown hair and eyes, arrogant as balls, though not remotely sarcastic, master of smiley face and winking emoticons, and most importantly....I hate having fun. My idea of a hot date is to go to an expensive restaurant - with no money - and be forced to wash the dishes to pay for our lavish dinner. That gets me hot. Or to go to an industrial plant and have our ears blown out by a cacophony of smoke belching machinery while we spend hours learning something useful, like shorthand. When it comes to sex, I like to make sure that someone is in the room smashing plates against the wall as I whisper sweet nothings....into your nose.

That just about says it. Come n' get it you lucky fools.

Sweet Jesus! Is there a reason why Xanga has made their site all complicated by adding a million things? Anyway. I will post my "What I've Learned" entry later. But for right now, I want to talk about the Kentucky Derby.

During this past Kentucky Derby, the filly Eight Belles was euthanized because she broke both of her ankles. I was rooting for her, and was very excited that she came in second in a field of 19 boys. So it was really quite upsetting to see her fall like that AFTER the race was over and that she had to be euthanized on the spot. However, because I am a horse person, I (like all other horse people) know that putting her down was the humane thing to do. But unfortunately there are lots of fucktards in this world like PETA and others who know NOTHING about horses that just won't let this go. Here it what these people continue to bitch and moan about:

1. It was ALL the jockey's fault. He pushed her too hard during the race. He whipped her. Blah blah blah. PETA wanted him suspended because they believed that Eight Belles was hurt during the race and he ignored it.

2. They only put Eight Belles down because they wanted the money. This industry is so selfish. They don't want to put any time and effort into fixing these horses.

3. They race these horses too early. The bones aren't fully developed, so injuries are much more likely.

I am here to say this: Shut. The. Fuck. Up.

1. Hey PETA! The autopsy came back for Eight Belles and GUESS WHAT!! There was no injury that happened during the race, nor was there a pre-existing condition that caused her to collapse (which was a possibility). Bottom line? She tripped over her own feet. It was a freak and tragic accident. But yet...there are still people who choose not to believe this. "Horses just don't trip over their own feet! The jockey pushed her too hard!" Are you fucking kidding me? Have YOU ever tripped over your own feet? Took a misstep? WHY?! Was someone pushing you too hard?! For crying out loud, I have been cantering a horse in a ring and they've tripped over themselves. Was I pushing them too hard? Hell no. It just happens. One time I was riding with another girl, and when she gave her horse the cue to go from a walk to a canter, he took a misstep and fell. Fortunately she jumped off before he fell on her, but that's exactly my point. Are you going to tell me that this cue (turning the horse's head to the rail and putting pressure on your outside leg) was PUSHING the horse too far? Don't be fucking ridiculous.

2. They didn't put Eight Belles down for the money. They put her down because it was the HUMANE thing to do. It would have been bad enough if she broke one ankle, but she broke BOTH. Horses cannot recover from something like that. They are not people. You can't just put them in a cast and expect them to sit for the next few months. Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. Remember Barbaro? They tried to save him, and they lost the battle (and this was only ONE leg, mind you). Anyway, as the vet at the Derby explained...Eight Belles did not have a leg to stand on. There was no point in trying to save her. I assure you no one wanted to put her down, but it was in her best interest. Would you really want to watch your animal continue to suffer? I certainly hope not.

3.The age issue has also been discussed. If you wait until they are older to race them, then their bones have already "formed." As a result, there would be far more injuries in racing. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Think about a gymnast. At age 20, do you think I could get myself into gymnastics and aim to compete at the Olympic? Hellllll no!  I am too old to just now train my body for something like that.

So yeah. That's all I wanted to say.

Big Brown won the Derby and Preakness, so let's see if he can win the Belmont and be the first Triple Crown winner in 30 yearssss. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, because 10 horses have won the first 2 legs of the Triple Crown in the past 29 years and lost in the Belmont. Only time will tell :)

I hate the last month of class. It's always a nightmare.

So I'm going to make an entry about Eve Carson. I think it is an absolute tragedy that she had so much to live for, yet she met her end by a stupid 17 year old thug. In support of Eve, a lot of the universities are asking us to wear Carolina blue in her honor on Tuesday, which I think is completely appropriate. It's just as appropriate as when we were asked to wear orange to show our support for Virginia Tech.

What I ALSO find to be a tragedy, however, is how some students don't want to show their support for Carolina. I was looking at all the Facebook groups in support of Eve, and I happened to find ECU and their request for everyone to wear blue. Here is what a student from ECU said regarding that simple request:

"I'll definitely keep Eve and her family in my thoughts and prayers, but you won't catch this Duke fan wearin Carolina blue."

Does this bother anyone as much as it bothers me? In fact, I was so disgusted that I sent her a personal message that said this:

"So let me understand this: You won't show your support and respect for Eve on Tuesday because you can't set aside a university rivalry that doesn't even INCLUDE you? Classy."

I find it SINCERELY pathetic and immature that a student from ECU is refusing to pay their respects to Eve because she is a Duke FAN. A FAN! SHE DOES NOT EVEN ATTEND DUKE!! Which, may I also say that even the Duke students are reaching out to support Eve? If the Duke STUDENTS can do it, then I am pretty sure that someone who doesn't even go to Duke can manage to do the same. It won't hurt anyone to set aside a rivalry for one damn day. Granted, it doesn't hurt anyone if someone DOESN'T wear Carolina blue. But to not do it simply because it happened at CAROLINA is absolutely appalling.

I don't know, I just thought that by our age, people could act like mature adults for once and do something respectful. I guess I was wrong.

I just wanted to get on here and say that I have had my tattoo for exactly 1 year! So, uh. Happy First Birthday, tattoo! Annnnd my 20th birthday shall be Tuesday. So yes, that's all.
